Session 8.1 — Love God and Neighbour
Read: Matthew 22:37–39
In Matthew 22:37–39, Jesus gives us the two greatest commandments: to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Love for God must come first because it is the foundation for everything else. When we love God, we are motivated to love others with the same selfless love He shows us. We show love to others through kindness, service, and sacrificial care. Today, let’s do one loving act for someone, reflecting God’s love in our actions.
Session 8.2 — Love Shows We Belong to Jesus
Read: John 13:34–35
In John 13:34–35, Jesus commands His followers to love one another as He has loved us. This love is the mark of true discipleship; it shows the world that we belong to Jesus. Our love for others is a powerful witness to Christ’s love and sacrifice for us. As a family, we can show Christ’s love by being kind, patient, and compassionate with one another. Today, let’s speak kindly to everyone, reflecting Christ’s love in our words and actions.
Session 8.3 — Kind and Forgiving Hearts
Read: Ephesians 4:32
Ephesians 4:32 calls us to be kind and forgiving, just as God in Christ forgave us. Forgiveness is essential in loving others because it frees us from bitterness and allows us to restore relationships. God has forgiven us much, and we are called to extend that same grace to others. Today, let’s forgive someone who has upset us, offering the same forgiveness that God has shown to us.
Session 8.4 — Honour One Another
Read: Romans 12:10
Romans 12:10 teaches us to honor one another above ourselves. To prefer others means putting their needs and well-being before our own, showing respect and valuing them as God’s creations. Honor is important in families because it builds trust, respect, and love. Today, let’s put someone else first, showing honor by listening to them, helping them, or affirming their worth.
Session 8.5 — Bearing One Another’s Burdens
Read: Galatians 6:2
Galatians 6:2 instructs us to bear one another’s burdens, which means helping others carry their struggles, whether emotional, physical, or spiritual. When we support others in their difficult times, we demonstrate love and obedience to God. This pleases God because it reflects His heart for compassion and care for the hurting. Today, let’s help someone with a need, showing God’s love by being a source of support and encouragement.
