HOW to KNOW GOD

Forest City Baptist Church

How Can I Know God?

Life’s greatest question is not merely, “Am I religious?” or “Do I attend church?” The greatest question is, “Do I know the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour?”

The gospel in a few words

God created you, knows you, and loves you. But sin has separated us from God, and every person needs forgiveness. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. Salvation is not earned by religion or good works. It is received by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

1

You were created by God

Your life is not an accident. You were created by God and are accountable to Him.

2

Sin separates us from God

Every person has sinned. Sin brings guilt, death, and judgment before a holy God.

3

Jesus Christ saves sinners

Jesus died for our sins and rose again. He is the only Saviour and the only way to God.

The gospel explained

The Bible gives clear answers about God, sin, salvation, and eternal life.

1

You are miraculously created by God

God made you. He knows you personally. You are not merely the result of chance, and your life has eternal meaning because you were created by God.

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
Psalm 139:14
2

You are a sinner before God

The Bible teaches that sin entered the world through Adam, and that all people are sinners. Sin is not only what we do; it is what we are by nature before God.

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Romans 5:12
3

You cannot save yourself

Religion, morality, church attendance, baptism, giving, and good works cannot remove sin. Salvation is not earned. It is the gift of God.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Ephesians 2:8–9
4

Jesus Christ died for your sins

God loved us so much that He gave His only begotten Son. Jesus Christ died in our place, bearing the judgment our sins deserved.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8
5

Jesus rose again from the dead

Jesus did not remain in the grave. He rose again bodily, proving that His sacrifice was accepted and that He is the living Saviour.

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
1 Corinthians 15:3–4
6

You must personally trust Christ

Salvation is received when a sinner turns to God and places personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The question is not whether you know about Jesus, but whether you have trusted Him as your Saviour.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:9

God’s promise is clear

The Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” That means salvation is offered to you, not because you deserve it, but because Jesus Christ died and rose again to save sinners.

How should I respond?

Salvation is not a church ritual. It is a personal response of faith to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Believe what God has said

Agree with God that you are a sinner, that you cannot save yourself, and that Jesus Christ alone is able to save you.

Call upon the Lord

You may speak to God honestly from your heart. The words themselves do not save; Christ saves. But you can call upon Him in faith, asking Him to save you.

A simple way to express your faith

Lord, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again. I am trusting Jesus Christ alone to save me. Please forgive me and save me.

This prayer is not a formula. It is only a simple example of how a sinner may call upon the Lord from the heart.

I have questions

We would be honoured to speak with you, pray with you, and show you from the Bible how you can know God and receive eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ.
