WEEK 7 — Sin and Forgiveness

Session 7.1 — All Have Sinned
Read: Romans 3:23
Romans 3:23 tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” This means that everyone, no matter who they are, has sinned and needs God’s forgiveness. Sin separates us from God and damages our relationship with Him. We all need a Savior because, on our own, we cannot restore this relationship. Jesus came to save us from our sin, offering us the forgiveness we could never earn. Today, let’s thank Jesus for being our Savior, who bridges the gap between us and God.

Session 7.2 — Confession and Cleansing
Read: 1 John 1:9
In 1 John 1:9, we are assured that when we confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Confession is important because it brings us into alignment with God, acknowledging our need for His forgiveness. When we confess, God shows us mercy by removing the stain of sin and restoring our relationship with Him. Today, let’s confess our sins to God in prayer, trusting that He will forgive us and cleanse our hearts.

Session 7.3 — A Clean Heart
Read: Psalm 51:10
Psalm 51:10 expresses David’s heartfelt prayer for God to create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. God wants us to have pure hearts that reflect His holiness. We need God’s help to cleanse us from sin because only He can transform us from the inside out. Today, let’s ask God to help us love what is right, seeking His change and renewal in our hearts.

Session 7.4 — Forgiveness in Christ
Read: Colossians 1:14
In Colossians 1:14, we are reminded that through Jesus, we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins. Forgiveness is a gift from God, given freely through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. This forgiveness brings joy because it restores our relationship with God and frees us from the burden of guilt and shame. Today, let’s thank God for the forgiveness we have in Christ, recognizing the joy and peace it brings into our lives.

Session 7.5 — God Delights in Mercy
Read: Micah 7:18
Micah 7:18 describes God as one who delights in showing mercy. God’s mercy is amazing because, despite our sin, He chooses to forgive us, showing us compassion and kindness. We should reflect God’s mercy in our lives by showing grace and forgiveness to others when they sin against us. Today, let’s show mercy to someone, offering them forgiveness and compassion just as God has shown us.
