WEEK 40 — Living in the Light

Session 40.1 — Walk as Children of Light
Read: Ephesians 5:8
In Ephesians 5:8, Paul calls believers to walk as children of light, meaning that our lives should reflect the truth, goodness, and righteousness of God. Walking in the light means living in a way that pleases God, rejecting sin, and embracing His ways. Our lives are different in Christ because He has brought us out of darkness into His marvelous light, transforming us from the inside out. To live as children of light, we must make choices that honor God, seek truth, and live in a way that reflects His character. Today, let’s choose one light-filled action, such as showing kindness, speaking truth, or living with integrity, to reflect God’s light.

Session 40.2 — Let Your Light Shine
Read: Matthew 5:16
In Matthew 5:16, Jesus tells us to let our light shine before others so that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. Our good works are not for our own glory but to point others to God. When we live in a way that reflects Christ’s love and goodness, our actions become a testimony to the world of God’s greatness. Our family can shine for Christ by serving others, being kind, and showing love in tangible ways. Today, let’s do one good work for God’s glory, seeking to make Him known through our actions.

Session 40.3 — Fellowship in the Light
Read: 1 John 1:7
1 John 1:7 reminds us that walking in the light brings fellowship with one another and with God. Honesty is essential in walking in the light because darkness cannot coexist with truth. When we live in the light, we are transparent, confessing our sins, and seeking to live in alignment with God’s will. Jesus cleanses us from sin and enables us to walk in purity. Today, let’s walk honestly before God, confessing any areas where we need His cleansing and striving to live in truth.

Session 40.4 — Light Exposes Darkness
Read: Ephesians 5:11
Ephesians 5:11 urges us to have nothing to do with the works of darkness, but rather to expose them. Light reveals what is hidden, and when we live in the light, it exposes what is wrong or sinful in our lives and the world around us. As believers, we are called to avoid the works of darkness and to shine the light of truth in places where there is sin or deception. Choosing light over darkness means making decisions that reflect God’s will and living according to His truth. Today, let’s turn away from something that is not pleasing to God, choosing His light over darkness.

Session 40.5 — The Lord Is My Light
Read: Psalm 27:1
Psalm 27:1 declares that the Lord is our light and our salvation, and because of this, we have no reason to fear. God’s light dispels the darkness of fear, confusion, and uncertainty. When we look to Him as our light, we find courage and strength, knowing that He will guide us and protect us. God’s light gives us clarity and confidence to face the challenges of life. Today, let’s thank God for being our light, giving us the courage to face whatever comes our way.
