Session 50.2 — Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant
Read: Matthew 25:21
In Matthew 25:21, the parable of the talents shows that the reward for faithfulness is a personal commendation from Jesus: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” This reflects God’s delight in those who faithfully serve Him, even in the small things. God rewards faithfulness, not based on the size of our tasks, but on our dedication and loyalty to Him. Today, we can be faithful by doing what He has called us to do, whether great or small, with a heart that seeks to please Him.
Session 50.1 — I Have Finished My Course
Read: 2 Timothy 4:7
In 2 Timothy 4:7, Paul reflects on his life with satisfaction, knowing that he has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Paul’s words encourage us to stay faithful in our walk with God, even as we face challenges and obstacles. Finishing well is important because it reflects perseverance and a commitment to God throughout our lives. To stay faithful to the end, we must keep our eyes on the goal, rely on God’s strength, and remain steadfast in our faith, knowing that the reward for faithfulness is eternal.
Session 50.3 — Looking Unto Jesus
Read: Hebrews 12:2
Hebrews 12:2 urges believers to keep their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Jesus is the ultimate example of perseverance, enduring the cross for the joy set before Him. When we face challenges, looking to Jesus helps us endure by reminding us of His love, sacrifice, and the promise of victory. Jesus’ example is perfect because He faced trials without sinning, and He now sits at the right hand of the Father, offering us encouragement to keep running the race set before us.
Session 50.4 — Be Faithful Unto Death
Read: Revelation 2:10
In Revelation 2:10, Jesus encourages the church in Smyrna to remain faithful, even in the face of persecution, promising them the crown of life. Faithfulness, even unto death, is costly, but the reward is eternal life with Christ. This promise reminds us that faithfulness is not only about remaining true in the easy times but also persevering through hardship. When we face trials, we can take comfort in knowing that God’s faithfulness will sustain us and that the ultimate reward for our faithfulness is eternal and glorious.
Session 50.5 — The Lord Is Faithful
Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:24
1 Thessalonians 5:24 reminds us that God is faithful, and He will ensure that His work in us is completed. We can trust that He will finish the good work He has begun, no matter the challenges we face along the way. God’s faithfulness gives us confidence that we do not have to rely on our own strength or abilities, but on His power to bring us to completion. His promise to remain faithful provides us with the assurance that we are never alone and that He will see us through to the end.
