WEEK 20 — Hope and the Future

Session 20.1 — Our Blessed Hope
Read: Titus 2:13
In Titus 2:13, Paul speaks of the blessed hope—the return of Jesus Christ. This is the hope of every believer: the anticipation of seeing Jesus face to face, when He comes to restore all things and bring us into His eternal presence. Jesus’ coming is good news because it marks the fulfillment of God’s promises and the beginning of eternal joy. This hope should impact the way we live, inspiring us to live in holiness, with a focus on eternal values rather than temporary circumstances. Today, let’s thank God for the hope of Christ’s return, knowing that our future is secure in Him.

Session 20.2 — A Home in Heaven
Read: John 14:2–3
In John 14:2–3, Jesus promises to prepare a place for us in heaven. He assures us that where He is, we will be also. Heaven is a comfort because it is a place of eternal rest, peace, and joy, where we will dwell with God forever. This promise helps us when we are sad because it reminds us that our current struggles are temporary, and our true home is with God in heaven. Today, let’s thank Jesus for preparing a place for us, knowing that we have an eternal home with Him.

Session 20.3 — New Heaven and New Earth
Read: Revelation 21:1–4
Revelation 21:1–4 promises that God will create a new heaven and a new earth, and there will be no more sorrow, pain, or death. This promise is wonderful because it assures us that God is making all things new—bringing an end to suffering and restoring perfect peace and joy. In the new creation, God will dwell with His people, and we will experience eternal happiness in His presence. Today, let’s praise God for His future promises, knowing that our hope is anchored in the beauty and perfection of the new heaven and earth.

Session 20.4 — Living for Eternity
Read: Colossians 3:1–2
Colossians 3:1–2 encourages us to set our hearts and minds on things above, not on earthly things. Our focus should be on eternal matters—God’s kingdom, His will, and our future with Him. Thinking about heavenly things helps us live with purpose, making choices that honor God and reflect our hope in Christ. When we set our hearts on eternity, it changes the way we view the present, motivating us to live for God’s glory. Today, let’s think about one eternal thing and allow it to shape our daily choices.

Session 20.5 — The Lord Is Coming
Read: Revelation 22:12
In Revelation 22:12, Jesus promises that He is coming soon, bringing with Him rewards for those who are faithful. This promise reminds us that our time on earth is temporary, and our ultimate goal is to live for Christ in anticipation of His return. We should be ready for His coming, living each day in a way that reflects our love for Him and our longing for His return. Today, let’s pray, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus,” asking for God’s strength to live faithfully while we await His glorious return.
