WEEK 16 — The Character of God

Session 16.1 — God Is Good
Read: Psalm 34:8
In Psalm 34:8, David invites us to “taste and see that the Lord is good,” meaning we are invited to personally experience God’s goodness in our lives. To taste God’s goodness means to recognize and enjoy the blessings, love, and grace that God provides. We see God’s goodness in His creation, His provision, and the way He cares for us. Because God is good, we can trust Him with our lives, knowing that He desires what is best for us. Today, let’s thank God for one good gift He has given us, acknowledging His goodness.

Session 16.2 — God Is Love
Read: 1 John 4:8
1 John 4:8 tells us that God is love, which means that love is at the very core of His nature. God demonstrates His love by sending His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins, offering us forgiveness and eternal life. God’s love is unconditional, sacrificial, and unchanging. As followers of Christ, we are called to show love to others in the same way. Today, let’s show love to someone in a practical way, reflecting the love God has shown to us.

Session 16.3 — God Is Faithful
Read: Lamentations 3:22–23
Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that God’s faithfulness is great, and His mercies are new every morning. God is faithful to His promises, and His love and care for us never fail. Every day, we can rely on God’s constant faithfulness, even when circumstances change. We can depend on God because He is trustworthy, never abandoning us or failing to meet our needs. Today, let’s thank God for His faithfulness, knowing that His mercies are always available to us.

Session 16.4 — God Is Merciful
Read: Psalm 103:8
Psalm 103:8 tells us that God is merciful and slow to anger. Mercy is God’s compassion and forgiveness toward us, even when we don’t deserve it. He shows mercy by offering us forgiveness through Jesus Christ, sparing us from the consequences of our sin. As God’s people, we are called to show mercy to others by forgiving them, showing compassion, and extending grace. Today, let’s forgive someone, showing the same mercy that God has shown to us.

Session 16.5 — God Is Just
Read: Deuteronomy 32:4
Deuteronomy 32:4 declares that God is just, meaning He always does what is right and fair. God’s justice ensures that He upholds righteousness and punishes evil. We can trust God’s ways because He is perfect in His judgment and always acts in accordance with His character. God’s justice should influence our choices, prompting us to pursue what is right and just in our own lives. Today, let’s choose to do what is right, trusting that God’s justice leads us to live in a way that honors Him.
