WEEK 17 — Growing in Christ

Session 17.1 — Grow in Grace
Read: 2 Peter 3:18
In 2 Peter 3:18, we are encouraged to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Growing in grace means continually deepening our understanding of God’s love, mercy, and forgiveness, and allowing these truths to transform our lives. Christians should always be growing because there is always more to learn about God’s character and His will for our lives. As a family, we can grow spiritually by praying together, reading God’s Word, and living out His teachings. Today, let’s pray for spiritual growth, asking God to deepen our relationship with Him.

Session 17.2 — Abide in Christ
Read: John 15:4
In John 15:4, Jesus tells us to abide in Him, meaning that we should remain close to Him, drawing our strength and life from Him. Without Jesus, we can do nothing of eternal value. Abiding in Christ means staying in constant communion with Him through prayer, studying His Word, and trusting Him in every circumstance. To stay close to Jesus, we must intentionally seek Him and depend on Him. Today, let’s spend extra time in God’s Word, allowing it to draw us closer to Christ.

Session 17.3 — New Creatures in Christ
Read: 2 Corinthians 5:17
In 2 Corinthians 5:17, we are told that anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old has gone, and the new has come. When we accept Christ, He transforms us from the inside out, giving us new desires, a new purpose, and a new identity. The changes in our lives should reflect this newness, as we no longer live for ourselves but for Christ. Today, let’s thank God for making us new, and embrace the new life He has given us.

Session 17.4 — Bearing Fruit
Read: Galatians 5:22–23
In Galatians 5:22–23, Paul lists the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are the qualities that the Holy Spirit produces in us as we grow in Christ. God wants us to bear this fruit because it reflects His character and brings glory to Him. Today, let’s choose one fruit of the Spirit to practice, allowing God’s Spirit to work through us to bless others.

Session 17.5 — Becoming Like Christ
Read: Romans 8:29
Romans 8:29 tells us that God’s plan for believers is to be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. God wants us to grow to be more like Jesus in our character, attitudes, and actions. Becoming like Christ is a lifelong process that involves surrendering to the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. Today, let’s ask God to help us grow more like Jesus, seeking His help to live in a way that reflects His love and holiness.
